I have a very good friend, we have known each other for 25 years, who was a Navy Seal. Gordon participated in the failed mission to rescue the Iranian Embassy Hostages, Operation Eagle Claw. But don't hold it against Gordon, he was just a SEAL following orders from the same type of leadership that we have today. It's deja vu all over again. Gordon has a lot of sayings as to how he relates to life. He won't tell you how to make your bed, he doesn't do speaking engagements, and he isn't someone who is going to show you how defend your business or your church. Gordon is an owner operator truck driver and he loves the solitude while he motors up and down the highway.
When things get tough, I like to check in on Gordon. He always has a few choice words to say about politicians and the price of diesel fuel. But he never, ever lets it get to him and he keeps on trucking and always ends the conversation like this, "You know what Mike? Everyone wants to be a frogman when the waters warm."
These past few years, we have enjoyed an incredible ride in the market, the water was very warm!! But the recent volatility has sent shivers up and down everyone's spine. When did the water get so cold? It is hard to watch some of this, but historically we come out of it and much better. Statistically, those that stay invested and continue to add to those investments do even better. Maybe Franklin will put those numbers in his next newsletter, he likes numbers.
We encourage you to stay in the water, it might be a little cold, but when the day comes to start your retirement, you will be glad you did!
Mike
